Media Inquiries Spokesperson:

March 1: Glenn Haley, CEO, 785-435-8647

The Topeka Board of Directors has developed a leadership transition plan that builds upon the success of our YMCA today and maintains excellence in executive leadership to assure a strong YMCA for generations to come.

The leadership of John Mugler has provided has positioned the YMCA to partner with the YMCA of the USA (Y-USA) and regional YMCA network and supports to determine the leadership structure that will best enable our YMCA to serve the needs of the community in the future.  “John has done an incredible job leading our Y in service and repositioning the Y during a difficult stretch of time. The board, staff and community are grateful for his outstanding leadership and business acumen”, states Board Chair Terry Diebolt.

While John will exit on February 28 after a remarkable 6-year career with the YMCA Movement entirely at the Topeka YMCA, he looks forward to working with new CEO, Glenn Haley to ensure a smooth transition and introduction to the Topeka community. “We will work closely to ensure that services to our members and community are uninterrupted during this transition. It’s been an honor to serve Topeka through the YMCA.  The impact on our community is immeasurable and I know Glenn will work hard to ensure our viability and lay a path forward.  I’m excited for this next chapter for the Y, our community, staff and membership”, states John Mugler.

An interim appointment of Glenn Haley, 30-year Y professional and former CEO of the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, will begin March 1.   The Y will also continue to work with Y-USA, the Wichita YMCA and the State Alliance of Missouri and Kansas YMCAs for additional support and resources as we continue to evaluate our work in the community and plan for the future.

Through the dedicated efforts of volunteers and staff, the Topeka YMCA is dedicated to strengthening the foundations of community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Mission of the YMCA is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build health spirit, mind and body for all.
